welcome to fisher's crib

fisher's nursery is finally complete!  being two weeks away from the big "due date," it feels amazing to have this room ready for a real baby to live in.  most of these things are probably not necessary for a baby to survive, but it was so much fun being able to pour love over this room with the thoughts of our little man.
here is a tour of his nursery:
as you walk in the door, the below picture is what you will see
this is the side view from the crib (all bedding handmade by my amazing mom)

as you walk in the door and turn left, you find the changing table area
straight ahead, you find the shelves and window seat
 details in the shelves:
in the back corner- closet and growth chart
we were filled with such joy making each craft, working on sewing projects, building creations, organizing shelves, etc...because we knew that one day, our son would get to enjoy it.  my heart is so full, thinking about what is to come so soon...

babymoon

once drew and i found out that we were having a baby in may, we decided we would take a "babymoon" during spring break.  babymoons are just an excuse to get away one last time just the two of you to vacation before the baby comes.  of course there will be times later in life when we will leave the babe with people while we vacation, but it will still be somewhat different.  it was so incredible for us to go to our "happy place" of asheville, nc (where we met, got engaged, got married, etc...).  we had such a wonderful time just being away from all the "things to do" at home, just relaxing and sharing precious time together.
to begin our vacation in asheville, we had to eat at drew's all-time favorite restaurant, Tupelo Honey.  delicious!
we loved just browsing around downtown, enjoying all the art and character-filled shops.  we decided that we would get a little present for baby fisher to document our "babymoon" and we found this little gem of a giraffe.
every time we visit asheville, drew is curious about the noodle shop on the corner of the main road and so we decided to branch out and give it a shot.  definitely not our favorite for asheville, but it was still fun to sit on the corner and be serenaded by the street performers.
we spent a lot of time sitting at the parks throughout town.  it was so peaceful to have time to read, talk, and just be able to rest.

we drove through the town and spotted great thrift stores (i love finding thrift stores in other towns)
we also ventured to a recommended restaurant- apollo flame.  it was so much food, i grew a food baby!
as you can see, we really did not have our camera with us most of the trip, but at least parts are documented.  we had such a great time- i really think that babymoons can be taken anywhere- doesn't even matter where you go.  just as long as you are away from your house, and just the two of you... it is going to be a cherished time.

christ church shower

continuing to rewind, we were so blessed by our church family through a baby shower for fisher.  the sweet kimseys opened up their home and created such a special environment for the celebration.  we are beyond blessed to live in such community with this family of believers through christ church.  from just the short time of being here, we have been overwhelmed by the ways that each person from the church pours into our lives to bring us closer to jesus.
mandy did a wonderful job with the decor
lolli cakes- amazing
sweet baby mary with the ladies
the moms

the incredible hostesses

our soon-to-be family of three has been loved so well by our community at christ church.

"A new command i give to you: love one another.  as i have loved you, so you must love one another.  by this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."- John 13:34-35

hillside shower

hello, long lost blog world... sorry that i have been somewhat MIA.  things around the mccleskey household have been quiet busy lately- full of fun and exciting days.  so, now there's a lot of catching up to do.
rewind back to the end of march to this sweet sweet shower from my dear hillside friends.  i worked at hillside for the first 3 years out of college.  these women took me into their community and loved me better than i could have ever imagined.  they had such love and support pouring out of them as they cared for me through every moment of my years there.  it has been so incredible to live alongside of them and to continue these relationships outside of being at the same school.  they threw such an amazing shower that truly covered me with such love and kindness.
 so much delicious food
 kindergarten friends
 the dessert table
 writing mom to be advice
 so many adorable gifts
i am beyond grateful for each one of these women.

photos with the bump

our dear friend christine is an extremely talented photographer. it has been such an amazing experience to be able to watch her passions and gifts turn into a business. she has such an incredible ability to create an atmosphere that people feel comfortable, relaxed, encouraged, and able to be themselves in front of the camera. everything that she captures becomes such a piece of art, as she has such a special eye for specific moments and frames. if you have not already done so, you need to check out her blog asap- www.christinelegrandphotographyblog.com

beyond her talent in photography, christine has one of the biggest hearts on the planet. i am constantly blessed by our friendship and i am beyond thankful for her. she continued to encourage me to mark these moments of pregnancy with photos, and i am so lucky to have them. i know looking back, i will be so thankful to remember this journey with drew before we meet our first, sweet little babe... already looking at the pictures, it seems like a lifetime ago- but it was only a couple months ago at 27 weeks in.
meet christine...
with so much to look forward to, we are trying to live in every moment. we are trying to cherish our last 6 weeks together just the two of us, and it is truly a special time.
